BAAD! Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance creates, produces, presents, and supports the development of cutting edge and challenging works in contemporary dance and all creative disciplines which are empowering to women, people of color, and the LGBTQ community. BAAD! brings a queer and dissident perspective to the socio-political dialogue and culture of our neighborhood, borough, and city through first-rate art. Through partnerships with other community-based organizations, grassroots organizing projects which parallel performances, and programming which gives voice to artists from underrepresented demographics, BAAD! aids in dismantling paradigms of injustice such as sexism, racism and homophobia in the Bronx and beyond. BAAD! has stepped up to being a Sanctuary Space and has a four-point plan to embrace "vulnerable communities" (immigrants, women, people of color and queer people) and provide resources and a creative outlet to create strategies for living and loving in America.
