MISSION
BAAD! Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance creates, produces, presents, and supports the development of cutting-edge and challenging works in contemporary dance and all creative disciplines that are empowering to women, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer) community.
VISION
For women, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community to have a physical space in the Bronx to experience and/or create dance, theater, visual art, written work, and performance that is empowering to them, free from the prejudices of society.
VALUES
- We believe that, as socially active, creative human beings, we need to embrace the multiplicity of ourselves as women, people of color, and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer people, and that our communities, especially in the Bronx, and people of all income levels are entitled to have high-quality art and culture primarily the form of dance and inclusive of all forms of performance, literary, and visual art readily available to them and should have the opportunity to participate in the creation of that art if they so choose.
- We believe that it is our responsibility to provide access to art, and the physical and intellectual space and resources for the creation of art that is empowering to the communities we embrace and that it be provided to the underserved populations of the Bronx and beyond.
- We believe that in order for the Bronx, our communities, and society to develop, we must hold space, physically and intellectually, for the freedom of expression — creative and otherwise.
